I have a 93 jeep cherokee 2wd with an 6 cyl 4.0 w/ac. The idler pulley froze up and broke the serpentine belt. I replaced both components and it squeals when the ac is turned on. The belt seems tight enough but the squealing is still there. What can I try next?

Did you just replace the pulley or the whole tensioner?

It might be that the tensioner arm is worn and leaning off of it's intended axis

This may be why your pulley failed.

Sometimes you can stand back and see that it's not inline with the other components

Tugging/ pushing on it "sideways" might also show the wear

I see no tensioner. The belt is tightend by adjusting the power steering pump pulley.

Not real familiar with your rig

Can you see the inner part of the A/C pulley. The part that does not spin when it's off?

Turn on your A/C, observe the inner part of the pulley, can you tell if it's movements are in sync with the squeal?
