You can install an aftermarket radio with the features you want. Starting with the 2002 models the engineers at GM began building the Body Computers into their radios so you couldn't remove them, and you had to have them repaired at one of their two grossly over-priced repair centers.

There may have been a number of recalls for your truck. There are other web sites that will list them if you do a search. Recalls are only for safety or emissions-related problems, and sometimes manufacturers that have more customer-friendly business practices will issue a voluntary recall for an owner satisfaction issue even though they aren't required to do so.
