A wire shorted on the starter solenoid. The small wire with the clip.
When I turn the key there is power at first, although nothing happens, then there is no power to the car anywhere. Any Ideas?

Sounds like you have a bad connection, and not related to the starter. Turn the head lights on to keep the problem occurring, then start at the battery with a test light and work your way down the line from point to point until you find the spot where voltage is missing. That's the point to take apart and clean up and tighten. Look at the smaller black negative wire that bolts to the body and the smaller red positive wire to see if it bolts to an under-hood fuse box. Also check the battery cable connections the same way. I can describe it better if necessary.
