if the distributor goes out will there be no power too the fuel pump and what would make the distributor just stop working?

Without rpm signal don't believe the computer will ground the asd relay or fuel pump relay. Any applicable mil codes? Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs, if no spark, check primary voltage, smaller wire, to the coil and injector/s, same color wire. Check for mil/flash codes.
