1991 Toyota Camry 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 136k miles
Only after reaching operating temperature my 91 Camry 6 cyl. Will knock when idling, but only when in gear. As soon as I put the car in park or neutral there is no sign of the knock. The knocking sound is apparently not coming from the engine, but rather from the tranmission. It will knock briefly just as I am accelerating then everything is smooth again. The engine and trans perform well in all other areas. Also, as the car is driven and gets warmer, the idle knock gets louder. Any ideas on cause/fix? Thanks, Bob
