Just to add, without rpm signal, you may get an initial fuel pump prime, but, after that if no rpm signal, you get nothing, no spark, no fuel injector pulse. You have to crank it during testing, to check spark and fuel. If no rpm signal, might be caused by faulty hall effect sensor in distributor?
Engine cranking, can you see a fuel injector spray pattern? With TBI fuel injection, you may be able to see it spray or not.
