Need to remove a differential on a 1994 dodge ram pickup. Is there any thing I need to know to remove. Warnings or otherwise? Truthfully I need to drop the whole rear end. From where the drive shaft meets the differential back, including rear axel

Listen, go to our homepage under the DIY site. I wrote a how-to for rear axle removal. It is in general, but will cover you with this vehicle. Next, if you have to take apart the differential, that is a different story. Special tools are needed and it isn't an easy job. It can be very time consuming. You have to worry about setting back lash, checking run-out on the pinion gear. For a really good DIYer, it is a several hour job. If you do it, make sure to have specific directions for your vehicle. If you run into trouble, let me know and I'll try to help from here, but again, not being there will make it difficult.
