dipstick length

i did an oil change and was reading 2 qts low on the dipstick, I've only had the van for a short time. when i got it it had an oil change already.common sense tells me the stick is wrong . its the reason i want to know the length of the original so i can get the right one. its an 89 econoline 150 van with 5.0L efi. ty.

Rather than relying on common sense and assumptions, why don't you just do a fresh oil change and fill it with the 5.2qts it takes to fill it and just make the stick at that point.
