Hhow do I remove electronic engine module from firewall?

I am trying to remove the electronic engine module from the firewall on a 1988 Ford LTD Crown Victoria LX 5.0 engine. It will move back about i/2 an inch, and I cannot force it further off. I have spent several hours on my trying to do this.

i am sorry for the first response as i thought you said the ignition module.

look on the sides for clips or ears that you can depress or compress to release the unit from the wall. it should come straight out.
