Hhow do I remove electronic engine module from firewall?

I am trying to remove the electronic engine module from the firewall on a 1988 Ford LTD Crown Victoria LX 5.0 engine. It will move back about i/2 an inch, and I cannot force it further off.

it should be on the distributor. it is held by 2 bolts and comes down and out.
