My engine slowly started running rougher, it has gotten to a point now to where it shakes the entire van. I've replaced, timing gear and chain; much needed, water pump; started leaking, t-stat, fuel pump, rebuilt the carb, double checked all vacuum, replaced EGR, repaired any possible ignition wiring problems to where this thing will shoot a spark over 3 inches, and am about to shoot this thing. It does have over 500k on it, however the compression is between 149 & 148#'s on the cylinders, what in #**# am I missing. I'm out of options here.

P.S. Please help me keep it from going to the crusher

It has Dura Spark, timing mark doesn't jump and all dist. Components are tight and seem to be working properly. All vacuum has been plugged and checked one at a time. I can take it from 600rpm to around 4500 and it has a quick responce and vibration decreases but is still present. Upon decreasing the shake comes back. I did notice however yesterday, a whistle when it coming back to idle but I cant pin point where. I was not driving the van when this started so I can't get a clear answer as to what was going on when all this started. It doesn't smoke and all plugs looked normal, but I replaced cap, rotor, wires, and plugs just to eliminate anything possible. I have had another older mechanic look at it & even he walked away shaking his head. This is truely a new one on me. I really appreciate your help and will donate to the site as soon as I can get this thing back up to where I can turn a dime again. I'm in home repair so I'm dead in the water right now.

Have tried pulling one plug wire at a time to see in all cylinders drop same RPM? What you think about torque convert causing shake? Trans engage and van drivable?
