Mechanic is trying to tell me that my camshaft cracked at the end and pieces got into the motor. State is from my mechanical fuel pump. Had to leave it with him when the water pump went out. Had no real work done on the motor, very low miles.

What's the question? Which engine is this in cubic inches? I'm guessing it's a 400, but I don't think they had that in 1970. Could it be a 383? How was it running when you took it to the shop? What is the symptom now?
