Most auto "directions" are given from the drivers seat not in front of the vehicle.
So right hand would be from the drivers seat.

On your truck (if it has California Emissions) you have a total of four O2 sensors.
As PRP stated Bank one is always where number one cylinder is. That can be different depending on the make year model and engine in a vehicle.

Now if you have a Federal emissions system (depends on where the truck was originally bought) The above still applies but you would only have two sensors.
They are still S1 and S2.

Now if I understand your response above you were facing the engine and replaced Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Hope this helps.

Not a problem. It is one of the things that you learn as a mechanic that applies to vehicles and medicine. Saying drivers side works if you never work on a motorcycle, combine or a right hand drive vehicle.

You didn't list the engine size, so here are the drawings for every variable. You'll have to pick the right one for your truck. Note too there's a difference for trucks with the California emissions package.

What kind of problem are you trying to solve?

Will this sensor cause the bad gas mileage? I was told know, the ones that will do that are the upper sensors. Occasionally the truck when started will idle rough(About 4-500 prm. Normally it idles at 600rpm), but once given a little bit of gas it will even out. It doesnt do this very often. I've been told a million different things. I can replace the sensor no problem, but im still getting bad gas mileage, and ive been told by 3 different people the sensor is causing the bad mpg. But now, I'm being told this sensor doesnt affect mpg. Any help appreciated.

The O2 sensor tells the computer how rich or lean the fuel mixture is. If it is bad, it could tell the computer the mixture is lean; thus, the computer compensates by making it richer and using more gas.

It will be on the exhaust system before the catalytic converter. You will need to disconnect the wiring to it, then it just unbolts.

Here is a guide

Please run down this guide and report back.

I have a 1994 dodge truck 5.2 litre engine, I have only one oxygen sensor, on my cat. Convertor, the truck was running poorly & engine light came on, it was the oxygen sensor, I replaced it & truck ran good. One month later as soon as the truck engine was warm I had the engine light come on again and the truck was running very rich that I could smell it & engine would stall.I replaced the oxugen sensor again but no change so I unpugged it & now does not stall but I know it is running rich, I had a mechanic check to see what code fault the OBD1 was reading & it said code 51, he said that that oxygen sensor reading was not picking up, this is when the sensor was plugged in.

Thanks for the answer, & I will be glad to donate if I can fix my problem,
here is what is happening now, My 1994 dodge 318 starts great, bit only
starts to act up after driving steadily for about 20 minutes, until then it
runs good, after about 20 minutes it runs poorly, & then my engine light
comes on. I replaced plugs cap, rotor, wires & still no change, what is
puzzling is that is starts & runs good, until after about 20 -25 minutes
running steady

When you disconnect the O2 it will cause the engine to run rich. The coolant temperture sensor could be locked-up in the open loop causing it to run rich and the PCM is waiting for it to switch over so that the O2 will adjust fuel demand in the closed loop mode which is not happening. Get the mechanic to monitor the switching activity of the O2 sensor.

Furthermore could be a sticking injector/s and also a problem with the fuel pressure regulator not maintaining the pressure or its leaking.
