1999 Chevy Silverado 5.3L - air conditioner works pretty well on open road without much traffic. Around town and in traffic it works for a few minutes then blows hot. I turn it off for a few minutes and it will work again. It has been flushed and recharged by tech. New switch has been put on. But same problem exists

Have you replaced the EFI relay? They are notorious problem causers with syptoms like yours.

Is the compressor clutch cycling on and off? The pcm controls the compressor through a relay. The pcm can shut down the compressor through the relay control, If the pcm thinks the engine is getting too hot. There are other issues that can cause the pcm to not energize the compressor clutch relay. I realize this is an old post. I'm just killing time. Lol
