Hi there

I had an accident with my Chevrolet Utility Bakkie back in August. I had to replace the number, grille, both headlights, new radiator and minor panel beating to the front.

Alright past that stage...

When I got the vehicle back from the panel beater it was starting normal but with a little less spark from the positive because it was a little loose. So, the first problem that arose was that when the engine was running the was a yellow spanner light displayed that wouldn't go off even when the engine was running. After that the radiator fan wouldn't blow and the car temperature would rise. I had a mechanic look at the car and suggested I get a new radiator fan of which I eventually did but the car gave me the same problem even with the new radiator fan fitted. Took it to another mechanic to have it checked and surprisingly when the car came back to me, the engine wasn't cranking at all and the little spanner that was showing on the dashboard is now flashing, and the car does not crank nor attempt to start anymore. Had the car towed back to my yard and it's been standing from ever since. I'm in Port Elizabeth and would appreciate help with this matter as I need my car for work purposes.

Hi,

Is it the anti-theft light that is flashing? If it is, try this. First, make sure the battery is charged and the terminals are both clean and tight.

Next, turn the key to the "run" position and allow it to stay on for approximately 10 minutes. See if the light turns off. If it does, see if it will then start.

As far as the fan, let me know what all has been checked. For example, were the basics such as fuses, relays, or connections checked and tested?

Let me know.

Hi Joe,

The yellow spanner keeps on flashing permanently even when left for so long and the car doesn't crank nor attempt to start at all. I'm not at home right now but will take a short video later on today still.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

I will watch for your reply. If you are getting nothing when you turn the key, we may have more going on than just the anti-theft.

Let me know.
