My car burns a little oil over time. I went to add a quart and afterward noticed I had used one quart of 10W-40 instead of the recommended 5W-20. Will one quart of the wrong oil hurt my engine? I need to change my oil

Hello, I'm Danny.

Usually it's always best to use what the manufacturer recommends and for your vehicle it's 5W-20. Many different brand oils have different additives and formulas so even if you added the wrong weight oil hopefully it was the same brand-companies oil. Since your car is burning oil I'm sure you will be having to add again soon enough. Stick with the 5W-20 in the future and you'll be fine. I've added a picture of some information below you. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
