Wount start

1980 NISSAN 280Z

I drove my car ran fine parked it for an hour and it wount run. I removed the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail, started it and it it ran fine. Put the fuel line back on as it was running and died. Did this three times and same result

it ran with the line off?? does not make sense

I know it doesn't make spence to me either, but that is exactly what's happening. Can the fuel pressure regulator make it flood the injectors

Do you have any ideas on what I should try before I replace the regulator.
