Lastly if the check engine light is blinking when you are cranking the engine then that is usually an issue with the theft system but I don't have a manual on this vehicle as it was not offered in the USA. So I am not able to tell if this vehicle has a theft system or not.

I would suggest starting with checking for codes and going from there.
