Engine will not stay running?

1997 NISSAN SENTRA
120,000 MILES • 4 CYL • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

It will start but won't stay running without the starter circuit on. I let go of the key and it shut off immediately.

This sounds like an ignition switch has gone bad, here are the instructions to change it out in the images below. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem. If your car has airbags disconnect the battery before you begin.
