I just put a new Ecotec alternator on, bought a new battery and when I was driving today all dashboard lights came on it started shifting funny and then it shut off.

Is there any recent history as to why you replaced both of those items?

Possible crossed jumper cables during a jump start?

Is your battery really low or dead?

Can you charge or jump start your battery?

If you can get your vehicle to run, let's perform this test to see if the alternator charge is getting over to the battery.
