The manual lift pump went out I replaced it and now the truck won't start unless I spray it with starting fluid then shuts off a second later.

Good morning,

The first thing I would do is check the rubber lines that connect the fuel pump and at the tank as well. If there are cracks in those lines, it will suck air instead of fuel and it will not start. The pump needs solid fuel to pump to the carburetor.

Also, there is a filter in the carb inlet line at the carb. Check that for any debris.

Do you have a carb on the engine or is it fuel injected? If you are not sure, please attach a picture for me.

Okay, thanks.

Is there fuel at the lift pump from the tank? There should be fuel there and should provide about 7 pounds of pressure to the high-pressure pump.

Do you have a scan tool that can read the high-pressure oil pump when cranking? You need 600 pounds or better for it to start.
