First it would not start on some occasions. Then it started shutting down when driving, I would put it in park and it would start right up. Go a couple miles, and it would shut down again. Now wont start at all. Makes no sound when you turn key to start. Has power windows, radio etc. All work. Would the key fob do this? Someone told me it could be that. Some say a sensor. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

It could be many things. If, however, the security light isn't staying on or flashing, then chances are the key isn't the issue. Have you tried starting it in neutral?

Since nothing happens when you turn the key (starter doesn't engage) we need to determine if the battery is good first, all connections are clean and tight, and if they are, check to see if power is getting to the starter. I will need you to follow these links. First will be how to load test a battery. Second will deal with cleaning battery terminals, and third is checking the starter.

Additionally, here are a few links to help you when checking the starter:

Also, if there is no power to the starter, you will need to check the starter relay. I attached a picture of its orientation in the power distribution box under the hood. See picture 1

First, switch it with a different relay in the box that has the same part number to see if that makes a difference. If there isn't one, here is a link that shows how to check a relay:

I realize this sounds like a lot, but most things you can do in a couple minutes.

Do these things and let me know what you find. Also, feel free to ask questions if you need help.

Take care,
Joe
