Will not start but making whining noise

Hi,

Is the engine turning or do you just hear the noise? Also, is it possible for you to record the noise you hear and upload it for me. I may be able to tell what it is by sound.

Let me also know if this is something that happened all at once, was the engine running and stalled, or it ran and now won't start.

The engine will make a whining sound with a no start when the timing belt is broken. That's if we are talking about the same noise because without the timing belt intact the engine will turn over faster than normal. Just a thought.
