The engine was changed? (it would have been a 304 originally)
Has any of it been modified? Like the ignition system?
Can you send me a good picture of the distributor? (even pictures of the rest of the engine compartment)
Being that your CJ-5 is one year newer than mine, I know how things might change over the years with different hands in the cookie jar!
I am kind of trying to see what you do have, so that I do not ramble on giving you mis-information!
I feel sure we can get you going with some simple testing.
