Hi,

First, pay attention if the shift indicator on the dash shows the correct gear. Also, have you checked the shift linkage to the engine to make sure it is properly adjusted and not in line with the shifter? When you say it doesn't move at all in reverse, does the vehicle seem to still be in park?

Do me a favor. I attached a picture below that shows where the shift cable (circled) attached to the shift lever (highlighted). Have a helper slowly shift through the gears while you watch if that cable binds when it is being shifted.

The shift lever is on the top of the transmission (driver's side of the vehicle) See if you can locate it and tell me if it moves smoothly. Also, if you feel comfortable doing it, you can disconnect the cable and with the engine running and a helper holding the brake, you can shift through the gears to see if it makes a difference when you do it that way.

Based on your description, it sounds like something has happened with the linkage cable to the shift lever.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
