After running the car if I apply the brakes to stop at a red light or stop sign the car will jerk and when I go to pull out it won't change gears. I have to turn the car off and restart it then it's fine. Twice I have been driving down the road and the motor shuts off. Now it's starting it miss when I'm driving like it's out of gas but I can let off then give it gas slowly and it will stop after a few times of doing this.

Hi,

This could be several things and may not even be related. What I suggest is to have the computer scanned. See what diagnostic trouble codes are stored. That will point us in the right direction. Once we know that, we can start eliminating possible causes otherwise it becomes a guessing game.

Here is a quick video showing how to use a scanner:

I realize most people don't own a scanner. However, often times a nationally recognized parts store will do it at no charge or even rent / lend you a scanner to check.

Start with this first and let me know what codes are found. I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
Joe
