Gday All,

This problem is driving me nuts.
I've looked at 50 odd sites, wiring diagrams etc, no luck.
Got power to a CD/tuner head unit but no sound.
Ive had sound, but disconnected wiring cause it was done poorly and would come and go.
Theres a multi media amp/unit (avatar avt 7501. Very old).
The wiring of the six way plug into back of head unit is where issue is.
Three wires are not connected, two are labelled. They are blue (back ctrl) white (ctrl) and grey (could be green, im coloured blind).
From the amp/media unit there are two free wires that are labelled. They are
Brown (auto amp) and orange (auto ant).
What goes where please. Any help would be amazingly appreciated.
Cheers.

Picture shows factory wire yours I think is an aftermarket radio in the USA you can buy plugs that make it a plug and play to a factory harness. But you being color blind may have a problem with what i'm sending. It shows nothing for amp just speakers. So you might find manufacturer of amp and get wiring diagram for that so it will hook up your radio right. This is all we have for that vehicle.

G'day HMAC300,

Hope your having a great weekend. Thanks very much for your reply and effort.

My fault, I probably have not explained this properly because I do not know the names/terminology of everything.

Don't worry bout the coloured blindness, I'm used to asking people what's what. Socks, cars, poisonous food stuffs etc

The wiring designations in the pic you provided, are the 97 wrangler harness. Thanks mate, but I have that and have studied it closely. I don't think that's the problem area, as I didn't touch those and system used to work.

My issue is the two wires from digital media receiver, brown marked auto amp, and orange marked auto ant, which are not connected at the head unit end. I understand that these accept a signal voltage that powers receiver on/off as required via HU, but which wire at HU is sending voltage.
.

Also, the six wires that are in the six way connector that plugs into the rear of the head unit. I know the yellow, red and black. But the other three are not connected.
I'm thinking one of the three wires at HU most likely the blue wire, must connect to the auto amp wire that goes to receiver. One is probably illumination and can be ignored, which leaves the white wire at the HU.

Any ideas, cheers all. You rock.

You will have to look up the manufacturer of the receiver like I said in first reply the orange wire for power antenna is if you don't have one don't worry about it as it only powers the antenna up and down we don't have anything for that here. So find out what receiver it is made by, and look it up on line they will more than likely have the diagram which we do not so we can't help you with something we don't have nor know where the wires go

Look online because a lot of theseplaces have diagrams now adays for how it is supposed to be hooked up instead of beating your brains out using a multi meter. Lot easier using computer search engine
