I have noticed with some light downpour or condensation on my windshield there’s light streaking on the driver side as you can kind of see in the close up picture below. However if I pour water directly on my windshield or do a co wiper fluid spray the wipe seems more seamless and less streaky, is this a matter of dirty windshield or wipers or time to replace? Previously had inspection in January and they marked wipers as good so not sure if it’s worth getting new or if it’s just simply dirt buildup

Yep, I would clean the windshield and the wiper first and if that does not fix it install new wipers. Let me know how it goes. This video can help as well

Okay I will give it a try! Question if the wipers only smear with light rain or condensation but not if I pour water directly on the windshield , does that just indicate dirty wipers rather than ones that need replacing?

Yes it could be dirty wipers I would trey cleaning them first then if that doesn't help I would replace them.

You don't get to much snow or hail in Florida so either will work good for you.

Ok and how often are we supposed to clean wipers? Forgive me for my stupidity but I thought wipers were cleaned with the wiper fluid and simultaneously cleaning the windshield too

They can get road grime on them so you can use a soap solution for the windshield and wiper to make sure they are clean. Let me know how it goes.

Hard to see but any idea what this splotch on the windshield is? Seems to still be there even after cleaning outside glass and after using wiper fluid. Seems like a glare

It looks like the inside of the windshield needs to be cleaned as well.

Recently on 5/16/26 I went to my mechanic and had my kia pen wipers replaced with brand new Bosch evolutions. Noticed it glides smoothly when wiper fluid squirted and clears in one swift stroke without leaving any streaks which is good. However I noticed when I pour water on the windhshield and run it a few times on different speeds it chatters, is this normal? Thanks

Update I think it just wasn’t wet enough because during a rain downpour they moved swiftly with no noise, brand new Bosch evolutions. So does it just boil down to if u run it too many strokes and windshield is semi dry it’ll chatter ?

Nope, the wiper need to be aligned, please watch the video to see what I am talking about. If this is not correct the wiper will chatter no matter what.

Weather is cold and chilly today in the 50s and rain was pretty light no crazy torrential downpour and I noticed a judder with my wipers. Is this normal? Just recently had a multipoint inspection at kia a few weeks ago and they checked everything. We have had an influx in cold frosty weather would that affect the wipers and make them judder? Seems like the left one is the one dragging more

Update I went to a local mechanic and he took off the driver side blade and inspected it he said the rubber was intact it was just slightly floppy but still was in good condition and said it wasn't bent and that it could just be from the cold plus the flopping, does that sound accurate? If the mechanic looked at both blades wouldn't he be able to see if it was bent?????
