My windshield wipers sort of smear water around, rather than squeejee it off the windshield, resulting in a big blur rather than a clear windshield.

Clean the wiper blades with glass cleaner and newsprint or paper towels. The paper towels are not the kind you use in your kitchen. Use the light brown stuff you find in commercial restrooms. That and newsprint have no oils in it. They work real well for cleaning window glass as long as you don't use a section that has been contaminated with your fingerprint grease.

Thanks cardiodoc. I actually pinned down the problem. I managed to get two piece of junk sets of blades in a row, hence my conviction it was NOT the blades at fault. I cleaned the windshield and blades really well and that had no effect because it was the blades. I went to FIRESTONE and got some quality blades with a year warranty and I'm seeing just fine now. Thanks again for the good advice. I appreciate your answer.
