My window regulator is going out and my window will only go down about a quarter of an inch then stop. I am trying to change the window regulator, but the issue I am having is that once the door panel is removed I cannot roll my window down enough to get to the bolt to take the metal frame off to get to the regulator and I am wondering how do I remove the regulator if I cannot get my window to go down.

Hi,

Interestingly, the directions in two manuals indicate to lower the glass to access the bolt with no other choices. So that means we need to become creative.

Please understand, this is what I would try in the same circumstances. Not being there will require you to make sure my suggestions won't cause other damage. It makes it a little more difficult when the item isn't in front of me.

Here is what I would try. First, use something that will prevent the window from falling into the door. Once you do that, remove the power window motor. Looking at an exploded view of the items, which should allow it to move.

If it doesn't, let me know and we'll try something different.

Take care,

Joe
