Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. There are two different sets of directions. One is for power windows and the other for manual. I am not sure which you have but the directions are primarily the same. As far as your question, I have always found it easiest to have the window in the up position when I start this type of job. When it is down, it is nearly impossible to access anything in the door because the window blocks everything.

Here are general directions for removal of the door panel:

Here is a video for replacement. It is a different type of car, but the process is very similar.

If you look at the first picture, it is how to remove the door panel. I always find it helpful to know where all the clips, screws are located. If you have power windows, here are the directions for removing the panel, switches.

Use a flat blade tool to carefully pry door accessory mounting panel from door trim panel.

To remove the handle bezel:

Remove or Disconnect

Handle bezel from door trim panel.
Insert a flat blade tool between the door inside bezel and the handle assembly.
Carefully bend retaining clips outward while pulling out the bezel.
Disconnect the wiring connector (if equipped with power locks).
Install or Connect

Handle bezel to door trim panel.
Connect the wiring connector (if equipped with power locks).
Snap bezel into place.

Here are the directions for windows regulator replacement specific to your vehicle. I've also attached pictures to help.

The power window motor can not be serviced. It is replaced as a unit with the regulator.

There is a lot of information here. I realize you started with a simple question, but the additional information may be helpful if you have never done it. I hope it helps.

Should have told you it is driver side and it is electric. Window goes down okay, but sticks going up. Have to pull up, hit switch and repeat until window is all the way up. Last time it had these symptoms I sprayed silicone in window tracks and window worked great, not so much this time. The truck is almost twenty two years old after all.

Thanks, Tom

No problem, Tom. I just hope it helps. And as far as the truck's age, I still say they built them better back then. Too much to go wrong with the new ones. Lol

Take care,
Joe
