Rear drivers side window will not go down. You can hear the motor working when you hold the dash switch down. It is a convertible and do not know how to get under the panel with the roll bar etc. Have already done the battery disconnect to reset. Should actually say I hear a clicking under window when pressing the switch on dash.

Clicking sounds like the window motor gearing may have failed. Or there may be rust on the window guides. Either way you need to get to the window module to test it.

First step is getting the trim panel out.
Fold the rear seat down, then remove the bolts that hold the seat straps
(See first pic)

Next remove the rear seat pivots and strikers and remove the rear seat
(See pic 2)

Remove the rear seat belt bolt and release the J strap at the upper seat back
Remove bolster from rear seat back support and move bolster out of the way.
Remove lower seat belt anchor at B-pillar.
Remove turning loop anchor attaching bolt
Move door sill scuff plate to allow removal of quarter trim panel.
(See pic 3&4)
Remove cover 2 then remove the plastic nuts to remove the front trim.
(You MAY be able to gently lift the rear of the trim enough to clear the 1/4 trim without actually removing the entire scuff trim)

Remove screws attaching quarter trim panel.
Remove quarter trim panel.
(See pic 5)

At this point you can access the window module and test the regulator to see if it's the gearing or a motor fault.

To remove the window module-

Remove the water dam from the inner quarter panel.
Lower the convertible top.
Disconnect the wire connector to the power window motor.
Remove the three nuts (4) that secure the quarter window module (3) to inner quarter panel.
Lift the quarter window module upward and out of the opening at the top of the quarter panel.
If required, remove the three screws (5) and nuts (2) that secure the quarter glass and bushings (6) and remove the quarter glass.
(see pic 6)

Reverse the process to reinstall the module and trim.

Turns out the motor was stuck. Used a bar and a soft mallet and tapped the motor several times and it started right up. We live on a gravel road so not uncommon for our vehicles to have packed dust issues! Also, we had to remove trim and panel under the roll bar to further access the window panel. All said and done it took about an hour and half to dismantle and then reassemble. Three minutes to fix motor! Will probably invest in the special tool for panel removal. By the way, we put the top down first-just made more room to work. Thanks for the pictures!

Glad to hear it was just stuck as I did not see a source for the motor except a dealer part. That sounds about normal with modern cars, tear apart half the car to get to a.50 cent part that snaps in place in thirty seconds. HVAC actuators are my favorite, strip out half the interior to get the dash out to change a ten dollar electronic part that replaced a mechanical cable that never failed.

No sweat on the pictures, it makes it easier to tell what other parts come out that are not in the "official" list. Thank you for the feedback on the repair, many times we do not know if our help worked or not as people do not respond. Thank you also for using 2CarPros. Com.
