My truck is a 1500 z71. With a 10 bolt rear. I recently replaced the pinon seal. Because of leaking problems. I marked everything the way it came out. And put everything back in exactly by my marks. Tightened the nut up on pinon. Exactly like it came off. I did put a new universal joint on. Because it needed one. Everything is in tack. Added transmission fluid to full line. Problem is when driving forward and backwards at low speed. There is a winding noise. And yes I did put gear oil back in at proper level. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You may have tightened pinion up too tight as there has to be a certain drag on the bearings and probably tightened too much.

Thanks for your answer. I did loosen it up to 20lbs by Gm specs. Doesn't wind loud. But you can still hear it. Guessing I need to put another crush sleeve.

Yo have to be careful with crush sleeves they don't go by torque. It has to have about 5 inch lbs torque with only pinion on a used sleeve and 10-15 inc lbs of drag with a new bearings so a new crush sleeve won't help that much. With your mileage just put up with it.
