Will the transmission out of 1997 GMC work in a 1990 model Z71?

Hello, I'm Danny.
Sorry that swap will not work. The 1997 is a 4L60E transmission and the 1990 is a 700R4. They are electronically controlled and shift two completely different ways.The 4L60E is completely electronic and the 700R4 is basic electronic using more line pressure/hydraulic control.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
