The engine will start but when you give it gas it just idles and then quits.

Hi,
Either we are not getting the fuel needed or there is a large vacuum leak. When it starts, does it idle normally or does it have a rough idle? Are there any odd odors or smoke from the exhaust?
Do me a favor. We need to see if there are codes stored in the computer that may help. This vehicle has an OBD1 system that doesn't require a scanner.
