Would not start so I poured gas into throttle body, the truck backfired and bent valve cover. I replaced and have tried to start with starting fluid but it won't fire. I replace fuel pump and filter, distributor cap. The truck fires and is getting fuel but not at the injectors. It is getting fuel up to the injectors but not coming out. I tried moving distributor but still will not fire.

Hi,

Power to the throttle body injection is provided by the electronic control module (ECM). Have you checked to see if there is power to the throttle body?

I attached a picture of the ECM below. The idea of moving the distributor and the tune up has nothing to do with this issue. I suspect there is a wiring issue between the ECM and the TBI. Check and confirm power to the TBI and make sure the connectors are clean and tight.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hi,

If you have power to the injector and proper fuel pressure, I suspect the throttle body is bad. Are you certain the new pump is producing enough fuel pressure?

I checked the fuel pressure and it is good. I also rebuilt the regulator with a kit from Jegs because it looked like it was stuck but that did not help. I will investigate getting a throttle body.

If I recall, the regulator is internal. Is that correct? Also, I need the correct engine size. They didn't offer a 5.3L in 87.

Did you have any difficulty when you repaired the regulator?

Hi,

Do me a favor, check to see if there are any diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a link that shows how to do it. It doesn't require a scanner. Check this and let me know what you find.

Also, let me know the correct engine size.
