I changed the brake booster and now it will not shift out of park. I have checked the fuse for the brake switch, it is good. No brake lights, put a brake switch in. No difference.

Hello,

It looks like there is a shift interlock controller up by the brake pedal. can you see if it got disconnected or the connector bumped a little?

Here is the wiring diagrams that shows the interlock fuses that run the system as well:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Below are diagrams on the shift interlock as you can see how it works and the fuse locations.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

I took my vehicle to my mechanic today. After doing some test, he found that the brake light switch works if he moves the switch manually against the connecting rod of the booster. They checked to make sure that the brake booster that I put on a couple of days ago was the correct one. According to the part store that I purchased the booster from there is only one booster for that year and model, but my mechanic found two. They are thinking that the nipple on the end of the shaft on the new brake booster is too narrow to trigger the switch. I hope they are correct. They are getting both of the boosters in tomorrow to see if there is a difference. One booster is for electronic stabilization and one not. The VIN number really did not tell us either way.

Hopefully I will be able to give you an good update tomorrow.

That should do it because if the brake light switch is not being activated it will cause the problem.

I picked up my vehicle from the mechanic and the brake booster that I put in was defective. They put in a new booster same model and everything works.
