The car would not go into gear after a short drive. Got it into limp mode to get home. Won't go into gear stuck in park.

Hi,

When you say it is stuck in park, do you mean the lever won't move, or does it stay in park regardless of the shift lever's position?

Let me know that first. In the interim, have you checked the transmission fluid condition and level? If you are able to move the shifter, does it indicate the correct gear that you select?

If you can't move the lever, it is related to the park interlock. Don't laugh but confirm the brake lights are working. The actuator to release the shift lever is powered by the brake light switch.

Keep in mind, I don't feel the shift interlock prevented the vehicle from going into gear, but if you can't shift from park, this is my first suspect. I attached a pic below if its location.

Let me know.

Joe
