Will not crank with switch will turn over crossing the starter wire

Key has no return spring action ignition on will start crossing wire with switch on. No crank with key. Noticed lock cylinder broken at the end that goes into the switch the round end has a chip off it.

Dandy observation. The dealer's parts department has a repair kit for that. The cam typically cracks in half, then it does not get rotated quite far enough to hit the "crank" contacts in the ignition switch. With the new cam in the kit, you will need to drill a small hole, then press in a small roll pin to hold the new cam to the stub shaft. The roll pin comes with the kit.

You are correct it was the lock cylinder broken, not contacting the switch.
