I went to start the truck and it wouldn't crank, key was stuck in ignition as well. Tried to get a jump which got the key out but found out the starter was bad. Replaced starter and still won't crank. Tested the starter relay and had to replace that as well. Still won't crank. The battery is good and all connections are clean and tight. The key still gets stuck unless I push the button on the side of the shifter. Any advice?

Good morning,

This sounds like low voltage. If you had to use a jump, the battery was drained and that will not allow the key to coming out.

What is the battery voltage at the battery? It needs to be 12.6 for it to provide the correct power to the starter.

I also attached a wiring diagram of the starting system to see if you are getting current to the starter solenoid.

Yes, thank you. we have checked and everything seems to be right. It's still just clicking. How would I know if the engine is locked? Could that be making the clicking noise?

What is the battery voltage?

You would need to turn it in manually?

We are fixing to take the belt off and try to start the truck. Researching this is leading us to think air compressor seized up.

That could be the issue and you will find out once you remove the belt.
