Will it start right up and run after the crank position sensor is changed out?

I had timing belt frayed rubber, sever the wires on my crankshaft position sensor wiring harness. I connected the wires back on the harness, but the car is still in limp mode. I drove it in limp mode for about 2 weeks now the car just does a crank no start. If I was to pay the money and replace the sensor in the water pump and the timing belt, do you think that the car would start right back up or do you think that since it's not working there's some serious issues?

Hi,

My concern is the timing belt and not the sensor. You indicated the timing belt was frayed. Did you replace it? Also, was the check engine light staying on while it ran in limp mode?

Since it is no longer starting and the wiring at the crank sensor was damaged, the first thing I suggest is checking for spark to the plugs. Here is a link showing how that is done.

If there is no spark, my first suspect is the sensor or wiring. However, before I point you in that direction, can you record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? My concern is that the timing belt broke. I will be able to know by listening to it. (at least in most cases). LOL

If the belt has broken, keep in mind, this is an interference engine. If it broke, chances are there was internal damage done to the engine. So, if you have already been cranking it trying to make it start, recording it for me shouldn't do more harm.
