Why is my car overheating after a winter storm?

So we had a winter storm a couple day ago and when I turned on my car , it made a weird noise. I then tried again and it did start. so I drove it to work but when I got to work it turned off on me when I was trying to park . I turned it back on to try to park correctly. it turned on after 3 or 4 tries and I parked it and turned it off . An hour later I tried to turn it on because they sent everyone home and it turned on but kept wanting to shut off . However , when I was down the street from my house my car started overheating and it has been doing that ever since. I’m not sure what to do from here. help please .
