1999 Dodge Avenger overheating

My car temperature guage reads hot but its not and when I turn on anything electrical the temperature shoots up while the lights go dim. No signs of leaking so what would cause that?

My 1999 Avenger had the same problem you need to fix the ground to the battery. If you dont it gets wayyy worse on that car it shuts off bucks and the throttle cable acts as a ground then melts. Just clean up and reground your battery.
