Still overheating

My car would occasionally start to overheat. I realized that the fans were not coming on when it was overheating, although they worked most of the time. I also noticed that the fan resister connector was burnt up. I replaced that along with the entire fan assembly and now the car is overheating even when the fans are working. I am totally confused. Did I happen to have two overheating causes at the same time?

It sounds like the thermostat is not opening or you have blown a head gasket for the previous overheating. Here is a guide to help you replace the thermostat and diagrams below to help you change it on your car:
