A couple of weeks ago my check engine light came on and then the next day before taking it to the garage it went off. It has been perfect since then until this morning when I started the car and moved it into second gear, the check engine light came on and the car wouldn't speed up? Will plugging the car into a diagnostic machine help resolve the problem? Is this an issue with sensors? and was my car in limp mode?

Go and get a scan done, the car sounds as if it was in limp mode, get a full scan done any codes will remain in the memory until cleared, report back the codes for more assistance.
