White smoke gas smell

Swapped engine with automatic 1999 150 in my 1997 manual all sounds good. Just white smoke with gas smell from exhaust since it began running.

scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. it may be pressure regulator is to high . also, check for a blown head gasket although if it just does it should be driven a bit to see if it clears up as it may. See link.
