The air only blows in the defrost mode not the vents.

Where is the mode door actuator?

Hi,
The mode door is located under the dash on the HVAC box. See pic 1 below.
It sounds like you are on the right track with the mode door. First, take a look through this link:

If you look at the remaining pics, I provided the directions and pics specific to your vehicle for replacing the mode door actuator.
