My car won't start. It turns over - just won't start. While turning over the engine I notice the tachometer remains at 0. I am guessing that it has a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor. I have watched a few videos and found a few diagrams that show the position of the sensor in one of two locations. 1) accessible through the front passenger wheel-well, or 2) located near the catalytic converter at the flywheel.

Any help with locating this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I have included in the diagrams down below the location of your vehicle's Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP), which on the lower left side of the engine block.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, thanks for the help. Unfortunately one of the images you posted has no information on it, so I am unable to see the sensors location. I'm also not sure when you say that the sensor is on the left, if you mean the car's left (driver's side) or my left as I look at the engine while standing in front of the car (passenger side). Sorry for the confusion. Please clarify when you can.

Hello again,

The description says on the lower left hand side of the engine block, so if you stand at the front of the engine it should be on the lower left hand side, so it should be on the passenger side of the engine.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, thanks for your attempts, but the CPS is not located where you have specified. Unfortunately, you posted some images and the one that should show me where it is located in relation to the engine block did not come through (scroll up and view the images you posted, you'll see that one has no information on it at all). I also believe you may be viewing the specs for the 6 cylinder model. Whereas mine is the 4 cylinder model. I can assure you that the sensor is not on the left side of the engine, as I just finished dismantling the panels in the passenger side wheel well, and there is definitely no sensor located in that region.

I'm still looking for it. Any help would be appreciated. Do you have the proper diagrams for the 2.0 Liter, 4 cylinder model of my 2002 Ford Escape? I would love to see where it is in relation to the engine. I have a feeling it is on the right side of the engine, where it meets the transmission. But again, I cannot locate it anywhere.

Thanks.
