I'm getting an "Engine hot/AC off" message immediately upon turning the key, and the coolant temperature is pegged low.

Disconnecting the battery for a while temporarily cleared the condition.

I believe the coolant temperature sensor is either failing or has a bad connection. I need to know its location to be able to clean the contacts and/or replace the sensor.

It looks like the coolant temperature sensor is near the thermostat housing and upper radiator hose. Please check out the images below for the location. Please let us know what happens.
