When to get a new car

Hello, I am 22 year old college student. I drive a 1997 Buick Century. I am at a loss as to what to do, my car has accrued so many repairs in the last year. Last January my starter, tires, and power window motor had to be replaced. Over the summer my water pump went and I had another problem where my engine kept overheating that had to be fixed. Two months ago my sway bar, ball joints, brake line and brake pads had to be replaced. Then the other day my car just wouldn’t turn on, something is wrong with the electric, and my battery sparked so I’m not sure what’s wrong.

I am really at my wits end with my car. My parents helped me out with the repair costs because it was close to $3000 over the past year, and I am in college so I don’t have a lot of money. My parents don’t really have a lot of money right now.

My question is, what do you think the problem is with my car?

My other question is, is my car worth fixing again? I feel like a 17 year old car that was given to me by my grandfather has served its purpose. Should I cut my losses or continue to get it repaired?

Get another car, it's going to continue to have problems as it sounds like it's had poor maintenance it's entire life. You can have the battery checked for condition including load test at auto parts for free. Try a different key as well as it may be your security system
